A Brief History of (wasted) Time

This game started life in September 1994, and has existed in various incarnations ever since. The ill-fated Tremor I, which fortunately for the world population was never released, was an excellent programming effort on my part; it merely had a few difficulties in collaborating amicably with the host computer and so it was quietly laid to rest in an unmarked grave. However, from the ashes, a new world-beater emerged: Tremor II! This is the version currently residing on your hard disc.

The most ground-breaking innovation introduced in Tremor II is that of the scrolling individual player maps. Some love em, some hate em; I think it makes the game more fun to have a playable area larger than some games of the genre, and allow four players at the same time.

Another new feature is the guns. Tremor I started life with 28 monsters, which moved randomly, unless they decided to attack a player. This was great fun, but on a non StrongArm machine, could get a little slow at times. When I introduced the new levels of size 100x100 (as opposed to 19x19) the game slowed down rather a lot. Therefore, I decided a spot of Araldite and a quick trip to an arms dealer was in order. Amazingly, all the monsters changed into fixed gun emplacements which fired bullets in all directions at certain (randomly influenced) times. In case youre interested, there are a maximum of about 128 guns per level.
